Why are alternatives not being implemented?

Alternatives are being implemented, as can be sen on the preceding page; however these are not being encouraged by the 1080 vested interests.

The NZ government and the vested 1080 interests are actively seem to be trying to dissuade alternatives.

See the comments below from the spokesman for the AHB and the reaction from government to private enterprise. As well, additional disincentives have been implemented by the imposition of Licence fees of $500 on new and old possum trappers alike, regardless of their previous experience and in most cases, long history of holding prior lifetime licences.

The value of possum fur as at August 2008 was $105,000 per tonne, compared to sheep’s wool at approximately $5000 per tonne!

ESPC DOES NOT ACCEPT OR BELIEVE THE AHB STATEMENT.
